Fix My Website: Repair & Troubleshooting Services

Website down, slow, showing errors or losing orders? Tell us what's wrong. We find the cause and quote the fix before any work starts.

What we fix

Common problems we troubleshoot

Mostly WordPress and WooCommerce sites, plus the PHP, database and hosting underneath them. Not sure which one you have? Describe what you see and we'll work it out.

WordPress and PHP errors

White screens, "critical error" messages, PHP warnings and plugin or theme conflicts after an update.

Website downtime

A site that won't load, shows a server error or keeps going offline.

Slow websites

Pages that take too long to load, poor Core Web Vitals, or a dashboard that crawls.

Broken layouts

Pages that look wrong on mobile or desktop, missing images, or design that broke after an update.

Forms that don't work

Contact or booking forms that won't send, or emails that never arrive.

WooCommerce checkout problems

Checkout errors, payment methods that disappear, or orders that don't go through.

SSL issues and migrations

"Not secure" warnings, mixed content, expired certificates, and moves to a new host or domain.

Database and hosting problems

Database connection errors, corrupted tables, full disks and hosting configuration issues.

Quoted before any work starts

Once we've seen the problem, you get a price for fixing it, and you decide whether to go ahead.

What happens next

  • We review your message and reply by email with questions or a quote
  • Urgent problems — a site that's down or a checkout that's broken — are looked at first
  • Work starts only after you approve the quote and share the access we ask for
  • We take a backup before changing anything, then test the fix
  • You get a plain-English summary of what was wrong and how to prevent it

We work business days, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. We don't offer 24/7 emergency cover, and sending this form doesn't give us any access to your site.

Website repair and troubleshooting, explained

Website repair and troubleshooting is finding out why a site has stopped working properly, and fixing the cause. It covers sites that are down or throwing errors, pages that are slow or broken, forms that don’t send, and WooCommerce stores where checkout has stopped working. It’s for businesses that need a specific problem solved now, whether or not we built the site.

What to tell us

The more we know at the start, the faster we can find the cause. Helpful details are:

  • The website address, and the page where the problem shows up.
  • What you expected to happen, and what happens instead.
  • When it started, and anything that changed around then, such as a plugin or theme update, a new plugin, a hosting change or a new domain.
  • Any error message you see, copied exactly or as a screenshot.

Please don’t send passwords with your first message. If we need access to fix the problem, we’ll ask once you’ve approved a quote, ideally for a separate account you can remove afterwards.

How we fix it safely

A rushed fix on a live site can turn one problem into two. So we start by reproducing the problem and checking error logs and recent changes, and we take a fresh backup before changing anything. Where your hosting allows, fixes are tried on a staging copy first. Afterwards we test the affected pages, forms or checkout, and send you a plain-English summary of what was wrong, what we changed and how to stop it happening again.

When a care plan makes more sense

Many problems come from updates that were skipped, or applied without testing. If your site keeps breaking, a monthly plan that handles updates, backups and monitoring is usually cheaper than repeated fixes. See our website maintenance & support services, or e-commerce website management for WooCommerce stores. If the site needs more than repairs, our WordPress development services cover rebuilds and new features.

Questions about Fix My Website: Repair & Troubleshooting Services

Still have questions?

Tell us about your project and we’ll get back to you with a straight answer.

How much does a fix cost?

Each fix is quoted in writing before any work starts, based on the problem and what it takes to fix. You decide whether to go ahead.

How quickly can you start?

We work business days, Monday to Friday. Urgent problems, like a site that's down or a checkout that's broken, are looked at first.

Do you need my passwords?

Not to start. Describe the problem first. Once you approve a quote, we'll ask for the access we need, ideally a separate account you can remove afterwards.

Does sending the form give you access to my site?

No. The form only sends us your message and site address. We only log in to your site or hosting with your permission, after you approve a quote.

Can you fix a site you didn't build?

Yes. We work on sites built by other developers, and start by reproducing the problem before changing anything.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency support?

No. We work business days, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Urgent problems move to the front of the queue.

What if it turns out to be a bigger job?

We tell you before going further and quote the extra work separately. Nothing beyond the agreed quote is billed without your approval.
