Angular front end

EHR Portal Development with Angular

99WebSol built the Angular front end of an electronic health record portal: patient charts, scheduling, tasks, messaging, and reports in one fast, role-based interface.

About the client

A US healthcare software team needed a modern web front end for its electronic health record system. Providers and front-desk staff were working across screens that were slow, inconsistent, and hard to use during busy clinic hours.

The challenge

  • Clinicians had to click through many screens to find a patient’s history, medications, and recent visits
  • Scheduling, tasks, and messages lived in separate places
  • The interface had to work for doctors, nurses, front desk, and billing, each seeing only what their role allows
  • Everything had to connect to the client’s existing back-end APIs

What we delivered

We designed and built the portal as an Angular single-page application with these modules:

  • Dashboard: today’s appointments, pending tasks, unread messages, and alerts at a glance
  • Schedule: day, week, and provider views, with booking, rescheduling, check-in, and visit status
  • Patients: patient search and a full chart with demographics, allergies, medications, problems, vitals, encounters, and documents
  • Tasks: assign, track, and complete follow-ups across the care team
  • Messages: secure internal messaging linked to patient records
  • Reports: filterable operational and clinical reports with export
  • Settings: users, roles, permissions, and practice preferences

How we built it

  • Lazy-loaded Angular feature modules, so each role loads only what it needs
  • A shared component library (tables, forms, modals, date pickers) for a consistent UI across modules
  • Reactive forms with validation for clinical data entry
  • Route guards and role-based menus tied to user permissions
  • HTTP interceptors for authentication tokens, error handling, and session timeouts
  • Responsive layouts for desktops and tablets used in exam rooms

Technologies

  • Front end: Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, Bootstrap
  • Integration: The client’s existing REST APIs
  • Security: Token-based authentication, role-based access, and automatic session timeout
